What about attorney's fees?

In California, our lemon law was enacted to protect consumer's rights. This included a provision for attorney's fees and costs. This means that a California consumer can get representation by a lemon law attorney without incurring any out-of-pocket expenses. This makes a lemon law case not only cost-free, but also risk-free, as contingency agreements release the consumer from any financial responsibility if the attorney is unable to effect a settlement with the automobile manufacturer.

If a consumer, being represented by a lemon law attorney "loses" his/her case, the automobile manufacturer cannot attempt to collect attorney's fees. This is another consumer-protection feature built into the California lemon law statute.

California consumers can relax in knowing that our state's law was written to protect the consumer and make it straightforward to pursue a lemon law case.
